Parent & Tot

Ages 10 months - 4 years
Our youngest class is great for introducing your little one to movement, music, and play with other children.  This class is also great if your toddler isn't fully potty trained or you would like to be in the class with them. We will have structured time and free play on the gymnastics equipment during class. Children will improve social and motor skills and have lots of fun. Adult participation by parent or caregiver is required. Classes are held in the Main Gym.

preschool tots

Ages 2-3 years
This class is great for your  fully potty trained 2 - 3 year old to transition into doing a class without a caregiver present. We begin class with music and a warm-up. Gymnastics skills are taught on vault, bars, beam, and floor. Skills are practiced in a circuit to avoid long wait times. Students have a lot of fun with each other and gymnastics. We also have a group activity during class. Parents are welcome to watch class from the hallway. Classes are held in the preschool room .

Preschool

Ages 3-5 years
Children with good listening skills are ready for a class without a caregiver present.  We begin each 45 minute class with music and a warm-up.  Gymnastics skills are taught on vault, bars, beam, and floor.  Skills are practiced in a circuit to avoid long wait times.  Students have a lot of fun with each other and gymnastics.  We also have a group activity during class.  Parents are welcome to watch class, but should not talk to their children during class. Classes are held in the Preschool Room.  Student to teacher ratio is 6:1

Novice

Ages 5-14 years
Each 55 minute class begins with a quick warm-up and stretch.  We teach proper gymnastics positions and basic skills on all 4 events. Each class will include 3 of the 4 gymnastics events (vault, bars, beam and floor).  We use a combination of group teaching, skill stations, and circuit training to keep the students moving as much as possible.  We focus on learning the proper skill progressions so that the students can learn safely and without the constant need of a spotter.  Basic gymnastics skills such as handstands, bridges, cartwheels, walks on beam, pullovers and swings on bars, and vaulting technique are taught.  Parents are welcome to watch, but we ask that parents not interact with their children during class. Classes are held in the Main Gym. Student to teacher ratio is 7:1

Intermediate

Ages 5-14 years
The intermediate class follows the same format as the novice level class. Students must have certain basic skills mastered to progress to this class.  On floor, we will emphasize learning backbends, kick-overs, cartwheel step-ins, and more.  On vault, bars, and beam, we will encourage students to progress at their individual level.  Stretching and conditioning is encouraged at home to help students progress. Parents are welcome to watch, but we ask that parents not interact with their children during class. Classes are held in the Main Gym. Student to teacher ratio is 7:1

Advanced Girls

Girls that have mastered the basic gymnastics skills on each event in our novice and intermediate class may be ready for our advanced class. A desire to work hard and condition and stretch at home are also important to excel at this level. Students will come to class once a week for two hours  Prerequisite skills include: cartwheel step in, backbend kickover, handstand to bridge, pullover on bars, correct arm swing and vault run.  If you have questions or if you think your child is ready for this level, please speak with your instructor, or email Ms. Lauren at lwhitaker@jeffersonrec.com. Pre-team girls

Our pre-team class is designed to prepare gymnasts for competitive gymnastics. Students will come to class once a week for two hours.  Your child must be invited to join pre-team by a previous coach or an evaluation.
Prerequisite skills include:
Floor- Back-walkover, Front limber or walkover, Handstand hold, Round off rebound
Bars- Pullover, at least 1 circle on bars, glide swing
Beam- comfortable trying new skills, able to hold a scale for 3 seconds without wobbling
Vault- Handstand flat back on vault mat stack

Boys Fitness & Agility

Ages 6-14 years
Each 55 minute class begins with a quick warm-up and stretch. We will use gymnastics equipment to teach strength, balance & mobility. We use a combination of skill stations, obstacle courses and circuit training to keep the students moving as much as possible. We will teach the students how to flip & land safely, pull up and over the bars, and basic floor & vault skills.  Classes are held in the Main Gym. Student to teach ratio is 7:1
